Dear Covington Community Members,
Thank you for attending the PTA/ Principal Coffee last week. It was wonderful to see so many of you come out for our first PTA Meeting and presentation. In case you weren't able to attend, the website to our STEM program is covington stem. The volunteer sign up for lunch clubs is linked to the site. Our Covington teacher, Katie Farley, presented the STEM Program and her plans to inspire our students this year in the STEM Lab. Our parents were even presented with a design challenge at the end of the presentation. It was so much fun to see our parents collaborating and creating. Many of our parents were able to successfully build a contraption that would hit a target across the staff room! We are excited about what is happening in STEM and can't wait to showcase our student work and ideas.
Safety Reminder: The safety of your children is our top priority. Thank you ahead of time for remembering the following when picking up your children:
- Arrive promptly at dismissal time.
- If driving through the pick up lane, pull as far forward as possible and do not leave your car.
- Or park your car in a space and walk over to meet your children.
- Do not pick up or drop off children from the middle of the parking lot.
- Children are not allowed to play on the playground unsupervised after school; please make sure you are with your child when they are engaging in games after school.
Thank you for all of your commitment to the safety of our students; we appreciate greatly every parent volunteering for parking lot duty.
Mark your calendars for September 27th. That is a professional development day for staff so there will be no school for students.
Join us this coming Friday for our first indoor assembly at 8:30am!
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Erin S. Green

LAEF: Welcome to the 2013-14 School Year!
For more than 30 years, LAEF has helped bring enrichment programs to LASD students. Staff for Physical Education, Music, Art, and reduced student-to-teacher ratios are all supported by your donations. In addition, this year's innovation grant includes funding for a new STEM lab and full-time teacher at every elementary school in the district. Combined with PTA funding for the supplies and equipment that help deliver these programs and others, your contributions to both are critical.
