PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE |
Solar Project Coming Soon You may have noticed the trees that were once in the parking lot have gone missing. Those trees needed to be removed in preparation for the solar panels which will be installed in the parking lot beginning Sept. 18th. Installing the solar structures will enable the district to save hundreds of thousands of dollars each year and reduce our carbon footprint, equivalent to 3.5 million pounds of CO2 annually. Construction will begin September 18th and continue for 8 - 10 weeks. Construction fencing is scheduled for installation on September 18 and all work and materials will be contained within the fenced area. Construction work will adhere to the noise and safety requirements of all local enforcement codes. While we still we have use of the drop off/pick up lane, traffic and parking will be impacted on and around the school during construction. We are working with police and traffic control departments to mitigate the impacts on the school neighborhoods. There are going to be obvious inconveniences during construction that we will need to endure. But please keep in mind that those inconveniences are temporary. We are encouraging carpooling, walking or biking to school- which are good practices for the environment at any time of year. We also anticipate that Rosita Ave. and our back entrance being used more for drop off and pick up for some of our families to avoid the construction. Adjustments in the parking lot duty will be made to handle the increased flow in those areas. The District is paying for this project out of its operating budget. No bond monies are being used. Please check the district website for updated communications and information.Thank You!! I want to thank the team of parents who helped out Ms. Becking in preparing all of our new leveled readers for the classrooms. It was, and still is, quite a big job and I really appreciate the help to get those books into our students hands. A big thank you to Jessica S, Emily H, Ariel C, Sally K, Lilly C, Demetra M, Mitsuyo W, Jennifer W, Angela W, Tammi, Jillian, Christine and anyone else who lent a hand! |
Back to School Night |
Back to School night is Thursday, Aug. 31st. This evening event is a tremendous opportunity to begin the partnership between parents and their child’s teacher- which is so vital to your child’s educational experience. Simply by attending BTSN, you are sending a message to your child that you view their education as something with real value. Teachers will go over their protocols and procedures, policies and curriculum- and all that is important. What I think is most important (and I’ve expressed this to our teachers) is the opportunity to get to know the teachers as people. Please note that this will be a parents-only evening, so make sure to arrange childcare ahead of time. Back to School Night Schedule:
Reminder: Friday Sept 1st is a Minimum Day. Kinders dismiss at 12:00pm, 1st - 6th grades dismiss at 12:15pm. There is no supervision on campus after 12:15pm. |
